Mexico is a newly industrialized country with strong economic ties within the region of the Americas, and is committed to maximize the benefits
from globalization. The development of Mexico’s standardization system in support of its existing electro-technical infrastructure is an example
of the complex interplay between national priorities, free market forces, and global influences.
The commitment by Mexican industry to regional cooperation in electro-technical standardization has been a success story. Through the CANENA
process, we’re all in this together. CANENA has proven that a balanced approach to assessing opportunities and risks can practically be carried
out on a regional as well as international level, especially where legacy systems are well established.
The program of the 2012 CANENA Annual
Meeting will focus on the status of the developing electro-technical standardization infrastructure in Mexico and immediate challenges.
Program highlights

Sr. Hugo Gomez, President of CANAME,
the Mexican electrical industry trade association, will be the keynote speaker
offering an industry perspective on the needs in the continuing development of a
standards infrastructure in Mexico.

A forum of experts will compare and
contrast safety fundamentals in national electrical codes of the region and
provide a summary of the code making process.
·
Practical processes for ensuring
“Credible Technical Inputs in Consensus Building” will feature the standards
committee structure of CSA in Canada as a practical model for developing
systems.
·
The latest on national, regional and
international implementation of energy efficiency standards and regulations will
be discussed in several topical presentations.
