1. 1. To develop and maintain harmonized standards for electrical boxes and their components for use in the Americas, that are consistent with safe installations of these products, and in accordance with the applicable installation codes;

Applies to connectors for use with copper or aluminum conductors, or both, or other cable types (ACSR, ACSS, et. al) for providing contacts between current-carrying parts such as terminals, between lengths of wire and tap connectors, in accordance with either the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I in Canada, The National Electrical Code (NEC) in the USA or the Mexican Electrical Code (MEC) in Mexico and the National Electrical Safety Code.
