Chicago is located on the southwestern shores of Lake Michigan.  It has all the offerings you’d expect from a major city: world-class museums, vibrant shopping districts and ample nightlife venues, just to name a few  Famed for its architecture, Chicago’s skyline is punctuated by skyscrapers like the iconic John Hancock Center, the 1,451-ft. Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) and the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower. The city is also renowned for its museums and notable institutions as the Art Institute of Chicago with its acclaimed Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works.

Weather

Chicago averages a daily maximum temperature for February that’s between 30 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit (-1 to 5 degrees Celsius).  The minimum temperature usually falls between 15 and 25 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 to -4 degrees Celsius).

Language

The United States has no official language; however, American English is widely spoken.

Electricity

The electricity supply in the U.S. is 110 – 120 V, 60 Hz. The standard socket is 3-pin. Some old buildings still have non-earthed electrical sockets with two blade pins only. An adaptor is needed to connect different plug shapes to the wall receptacle. An electrical converter will be needed for higher voltage equipment, unless the product you are using has a voltage switch or an integrated converter to use 100 – 127 V, 60 Hz.

Transfer to “Intercontinental Hotel” 505 Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 from Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

All taxis offer comfortable and safe service from the Airport; it is approximately a 30-45 minute ride and costs between $30 – 40 USD. Taxis from the airport take cash, credit or debit.

There are Taxi Stands at the lower level curb front (outside of Baggage Claim) at each terminal. Taxi service is available to Chicago and suburban destinations. Please make sure to use the designated Taxi Stand to ensure you have a licensed driver.
