SCOPE
Harmonization of national differences to support country adoption of existing standards that address requirements concerning construction, performance, safety, testing, rating, and marking (including graphic symbols and precautionary labels) of any of the following apparatus designed for use in arc welding, plasma arc cutting, and allied processes:
1) Power sources;
2) Liquid cooling systems;
3) Arc striking and stabilizing devices;
4) Wire feeders;
5) Torches;
6) Gas consoles;
7) Electrode holders;
8) Cable coupling devices

1. ANSI/IEC 60974-1:2017/CSA: E60974-1/ANCE NMX JXXX, Arc Welding Equipment-Part 1: Welding Power Sources
2. ANSI/IEC 60974-6:2017/CSA: E60974-6/ANCE NMX JXXX, Arc Welding Equipment-Part 6: Limited Duty Equipment

• Existing standard in Mexico: ANCE/NMX J-038/1, but this is being rescoped and revised due to NOM-003
• Existing standard in US: ANSI/IEC 60974-1 (adoption of IEC Ed.4 to be published) and ANSI/UL 60974-1
131: Residential/layman/limited duty-use power sources
• Existing standards in Canada: CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 60
• Existing standard in Mexico: ANCE/NMX J-038/1, currently being revised
• Existing standard in US: ANSI/UL 551, Ed.8
